New York XXI of the Blue Knights
Tri-State Conference was born on January 1st., 1993. The
founding fathers were; Joe Cuccinello, Bryan "Woody" Woodruff,
and Mark MacKechnie.
Prior to 1993, all three had been
members of Connecticut IV (Danbury) of the Blue Knights
Northeast Conference, with Joe serving as President from 1989 to
1992
Since many of Connecticut IV
members lived in New York State, Joe and Mark petitioned the
Tri-State Conference to create a new chapter in the Carmel, N.Y.
(Putnam County) area. Meeting no resistance from surrounding
New York State chapters, New York XXI was created, with Joe as
its first President, and on a snowy Saint Patrick's night in
1993, Tri-State Conference President Bill Michele presented New
York XXI with its Charter.
Over the years, members joined
and left this chapter for various reasons, two members, Malcolm
"Bud" Perry and Tom Giordano have remained members almost since
our chapter's birth. Our logo of a winged motorcycle wheel
superimposed on a map of the State of New York was designed by
Joe and Woody and was painted on members vests.
Today, New York XXI continues the
ideals for which it was created. To encourage friendship and
family interaction, while promoting safe and responsible
motorcycling to those who "ride with pride".
Members of our chapter have participated in Blue Knight
functions such as:
NY9's food feast,
NY 12's Run for Samantha,
NY 6's Ameracade,
NY18's Cops Run,
NY 11's bike blessing
Assisting NY9 & NJ9 during Gooch's Garlic Run
NY3's Rolling Thunder,
NY2's Suicide Run, and Maryland 1's Crab Feast
Members have
participated in Non-Blue Knights functions such as:
The Carmel Christmas parade
The Mahopac Columbus Day Parade on motorcycles.
The Lost Wheels Motorcycle Club's Poker Run.
The Random Motorcycle Club's Cerebral Palsy Run.
The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation motorcycle run.
Red Knight's poker run function in Pleasant Valley.
Our Chapter has also sent supplies to our troops in Iraq.
On
a sad note, Bryan "Woody" Woodruff became the first member of
this chapter to transfer to Heaven I. Woody passed away in
March of 2004 due to complications while awaiting a liver
transplant.
